Finding Articles

This page contains step-by-step instructions explaining how to find articles using the George Wallace Library resources.

Why use articles?

  • Articles are short texts with a narrow focus
  • They are great sources to learn about recent research on specific subjects.

Using an article database

This box contains step-by-step instructions on finding articles using a library database.

1. Go to the library website and click the Articles link.

  • Start by accessing the library website here.
  • Scroll down the homepage until you reach the "Electronic Resources" section.
  • Click the Articles link.

2. Click one of the database links you see on the page.

  • Different databases have different content. Click the "i" bubble next to the database name to find out more about what's inside.
  • ProQuest Research Library and JSTOR are our largest, most used databases.

To access databases from home, you will need to login using your Microsoft 365 credentials. Email us at reference-stlambert@crcmail.net for more information.

 

3. Enter your keywords in the search box and click "Search".

  • Not too sure what keywords to use? Check out this strategy.
  • Make sure to check the "Peer-Reviewed" box if you need to find peer-reviewed articles.

4. Click the name of an article in the results list to start reading it.

  • If the articles you found seem irrelevant to your subject, go back to the previous step and tweak your choice of keywords.
  • Still not finding anything? Email us at reference-stlambert@crcmail.net.

Tip!

  • Too few results? Use broader keywords or remove terms.
  • Too many results? Add terms or use more specific keywords.
