The purpose of the Collection Development Guideline is to assist the library staff meet the library’s mission to develop, organize and maintain a collection of library resources that supports the current and future research needs of students in order for them to complete their courses and be successful in their programs.
The Library staff has the responsibility to:
Ensure continued awareness of the various programs and courses by seeking active participation in department, program committee, Commission of studies and in Governing Board meetings;
Develop good communications with faculty to ensure a true understanding of specific course requirements;
Ensure the collection is developed objectively and that it represents various viewpoints;
Instruct the students and faculty on how to use the Library’s resources;
Ensures that the funding allotments are used in a judicious manner.
