Footnote

A brief note that is located at the bottom of the page.

The footnote explains a point in the text or indicates the source of a quotation or idea. The text that contains the quote will have a raised small number (superscript number) at the end of the material in question. This number refers to the footnote that starts with the same number.

Full Text

All of the text of an item (article, book, report) is available online.

A database may contain a collection of both full text articles and articles with only the citation and abstract available. Only the full text items will be immediatly available for reading online. To speed up your search process, databases allow you to limit your search to only full text items.
