Jane Austen Resources

A guide to library resources and research for students in English for Tutors.

Articles at Champlain College

Scholarly articles can bring a lot of interesting information to your research. They are shorter than books and tend to discuss precise aspects of a subject.

To find articles, try the Champlain College library databases. Simply click one of the links to access a database and run a search.

Finding articles at the BAnQ

The Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ) offers resources available to all residents of Quebec. The BAnQ has a large selection of databases in English. Once you are a subscriber, you can search the databases in order to find articles. You can access the list of databases on the left, by theme, by type, by name.

  • Please note that not all databases are available from home. Some of them can only be accessed from the BAnQ.

Databases with historical documents include Daily Life Through History, Eighteenth Century Collections Online (ECCO) and JSTOR.

Subscribing to the BAnQ

In person:

  • You can get a BANQ card by going to the Grande Bibliothèque in person (475 rue Maisonneuve, Montreal, accessible from inside the Berri-UQAM subway station).
  • Use the information on your card to access the databases online.
